The Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department proudly provides both Fire and Rescue services, responding to a wide range of emergencies — from fires to medical calls. Unlike departments that specialize in just one area, we are equipped and trained to handle both, ensuring comprehensive emergency response for our community.

Each year, we respond to over 500 emergency calls, serving with dedication and urgency.

Our department is made up of approximately 60 active members, ranging in age from 17 to 80. While we employ one full-time paramedic and one full-time dispatcher who are available 24/7, the heart of our department is our team of dedicated volunteers. These individuals generously give their time to help their neighbors in times of need — whether it’s day or night, rain or shine.

You may notice blue lights in the vehicles of our volunteers when they’re responding to an emergency. If you see blue lights in your rearview mirror, please be courteous and safely pull over. Every second counts, and your cooperation helps us reach those in need as quickly as possible.

We’re also proud to preserve and maintain the original Cold Spring Harbor firehouse, which now serves as a Historic Fire Museum. This space honors generations of local volunteers and offers a glimpse into our department’s rich history.
